Yes. Pier Sixty-Six Marina accommodates vessels up to 400 feet with zero bridge restrictions from Port Everglades, and we are fully equipped to handle megayacht detailing at this location. We provide regular detailing service and coordinate access along the 17th Street Causeway. Pier Sixty-Six is one of Fort Lauderdale's most iconic marina locations and we are on site there frequently.

Is Las Olas Marina open for detailing service now that it has reopened?

Yes. Following its 2024 reopening as one of the largest megayacht marinas in the United States, we are actively servicing vessels docked at Las Olas Marina on the Intracoastal Waterway in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. We coordinate directly with marina staff for slip access and perform all services dockside.

Why does my hull have orange rust streaks after just a few weeks?

Those orange or reddish brown streaks usually come from tannic runoff, not actual rust on the fiberglass itself. Cleats, rail fittings, and hardware mounts can leach trace minerals when saltwater sits on them, and that runoff stains the gelcoat as it drips down the hull. Fort Lauderdale's salt air and daily humidity speed this up compared to freshwater lakes. Regular washing prevents the staining from setting in, and a proper detail with the right stain removers can pull existing streaks out without damaging the gelcoat underneath.

What causes that yellow-brown haze on white gelcoat?

That haze is oxidation, and it is one of the most common issues we see on Fort Lauderdale vessels. A one time cleaning removes it, but the line will return without regular maintenance washes, since the conditions that cause it never go away in a working marina.

Is it normal for teak to turn gray after a season?

Yes, and it is one of the most common questions boat owners ask us. Teak naturally silvers when exposed to UV rays and saltwater, since the oils in the wood break down over time and the surface fibers gray out. It does not mean the teak is damaged or failing structurally. Regular oiling or sealing slows the graying process, and full restoration can bring faded teak back to its original warm tone when owners want that finished look back.

Why does ceramic coating fail faster in Fort Lauderdale than up north?

Fort Lauderdale's combination of intense year round UV and constant saltwater exposure is harder on any coating than the seasonal conditions boats face further north. A ceramic coating that might last two full seasons in a cooler, less sun intensive market can wear down faster here simply because the vessel never gets a real off season to recover. Ceramic Coating vs. Wax

Wax offers short term shine and protection, typically lasting four to six weeks before it needs to be reapplied, especially in Fort Lauderdale's harsh UV and saltwater conditions. Ceramic coating creates a much harder, longer lasting bond with the gelcoat that can protect a vessel for a year or more between applications. Wax costs less upfront and works fine for owners who detail frequently. Ceramic coating costs more initially but saves time and money over a full season for owners who want fewer maintenance visits.

Full Detail vs. Wash and Wax

A wash and wax is a lighter maintenance service that cleans the hull, removes surface grime, and applies a protective wax layer. A full detail goes deeper, addressing oxidation, staining, compounding where needed, and often includes interior and metal work. Vessels kept in the water full time in Fort Lauderdale generally need a full detail at least twice a year, with wash and wax service in between to maintain the results.

Teak Restoration vs. Teak Replacement

Teak restoration cleans, sands, and reseals or oils existing wood to bring back its color and protect it going forward.
